Phototherapy ( Light Treatment ) is known to man kind for over 2000 years now, however, the real boom of it only began during the beginning of the XXth century. But, due to the global social problems that shook the world (wars, revolutions) phototherapy projects were put aside and with the arrival of pharmacology was completely scrapped and almost forgotten.
With the developing powerful pharmaceutical company with chemical medicine have budged aside all alternative cures. The paradox in all that is that, now days, the people who need the medicine the most are the ones who are the ones with a low budget and unable to support their medical needs. Good quality medicine is expensive and hard to come by.
In other circumstances, blinding leadership of medicine therapy means that there are always new side effects to think about. Another words, "Treat one thing and cripple another. For a long time it was thought that the biochemical processes in the animal cells flow in complete darkness. However, research of the cells using a high sensitivity emission monitors have shown that large numbers of metabolic reactions are complimented with a glow. During Adenosine 5-Triphosphate (ATP) synthesis in the liver's mitochondria, when irradiated with the blue light, there is a dramatic increase in ATP.
Numerous photochemical researches had shown that specific molecules are able to absorb light selectively and can be used for beginning the oxidizing repairing reactions. Photosensibilizing molecule, consuming a quant of light turns into radical state and has high chemical activity. As an example, research of the chemical nature of hemoglobin shows that it possesses the photosensibilizers and its activity greatly increases when a quant of light is absorbed with a wavelengths of λ = 435 - 450 nm. Hemoglobin in turn is a part of erythrocytes (or otherwise known as the red blood cells) in the body of a living organism. Being responsible for carrying the oxygen from the lungs to all other tissues of the body, it also plays a key role in carrying carbon dioxide from the tissue back to the lungs and prevention of blood pH changing in any way. Thereby, the activity of hemoglobin directly defines a living cell's ability to live.
Photoregulating system, absorbing the blue light, provides control over different physiological functions like: rate and vector of cell growth, cell differentiation process and morphogenesis, and biological mobility of cells.
When the body absorbs blue light, the effects are as follows:
Improvement of the blood circulation, even on the microcirculation level;
Activation of the breathing system, increasing the rate of delivery and utilization of oxygen in the body;
Regulation of the hemostasiology and hemoreology systems, activation of metabolism;
Decrease in the level of Atherogenic Lipid blood;
Normalization of metabolic levels;
Stimulus to the immune system activity.
The reaction of the body even to the smallest light influence is very strong and effective, as the connection (light - biological matter) is predetermined by the early processes of evolution.
The collective experience in our country shows that the methods of phototherapy have a great deal of advantages over the traditional methods of medical therapy. They do not produce any difficulties and are more accessible. Also, increase the effect of the medication in case of combined use.
